All Dressed Up
"They didn't give you a cap for the goatee?"
That's the message from Jeremy after I sent him the update on what's going on and included a picture of me and Sam in surgery attire. We needed that laugh!
After the decision was made, the staff moved quickly. It was like one of those scenes in a movie where the character is standing still and everything is changing around them as time passes. Even though we don't feel like we're any more stressed than we were, clearly that's not the case.
I sent out the storm of updates to family and friends, listened to the instructions from the nurses about what's going to happen, where we're going to go, and what to expect in the operating room.
Even though we're a little extra stressed about the reality of Sam being cut open, each time we look at each other, it's clear that we're both feeling more relief than anything.
Not too much later, the nurses come and take us back. They have me sit in a chair where I'll wait while they take Sam back to get her all hooked up.
Here we go!
