Have You Tried Turning it Off and On Again?

Another few hours of no change. Same time between contractions. Same happy healthy baby, same normal blood pressure for Sam. Something important did change though, it's now after 5pm.

Shift Change

The new on-call doctor has decided to do a full reset, minus un-breaking the water, of course. That ship has sailed.

The nurse informed us of the new plan. "We're going to clear out your system", she said. No more IV fluids, no more Pitocin IV, and remove the contraction catheter. The idea is to kind of reset Sam's body, which should take a couple of hours, and then basically start over.

This time, they're going to start with placing the balloon to mechanically open the cervix and begin the Pitocin again fresh. Lovely.

Sam's dilation hasn't been checked since 12:3opm. We're hoping she's dilated more than the 2cm we're starting from. The balloon only expands to 4cm. The closer we are to that number, the less pain Sam will have to endure.

Sam's off the monitors and IV's now. Once she finishes her dinner, she's getting hooked back up to the original monitors and we begin waiting for the balloon.

Deep breath!
