I actually thought I could get some work done

My plan was to do some work while we "waited" for labor to begin. Another idea that hasn't worked out like I thought it would.

I did attempt to do some work this morning, but it became quickly evident that I was not going to be able to focus on anything other than what we were experiencing. And no, we were not planning on blogging through this. The blog idea came to me in a moment of frustration and fear that I would not be able to keep everyone up-to-date on what was going on--I needed a better communication mechanism to keep our friends and family in the loop than sending text message blasts to small groups of people and frantically trying to keep up with the replies.

Thankfully, we have awesome friends and family, so keeping up hasn't been that frantic. Nevertheless, I anticipated the amount of effort to keep everyone updated and decided I needed to get lazy about this. So, I registered a new blog, added a DNS entry for a domain we already owned, did a minor bit of cropping of one of our ultrasound pictures in PhotoShop, and just like that, this blog was ready for updates. Lazy means something different to us programmers.

I was able to get the first post out this morning during some downtime. Downtime, yeah right. Between Sam needing me to unplug her so she could use the restroom (seriously, how can someone pee this much when they haven't been drinking anything!) and me feeling like Sam needed me when she winced in pain during contractions, I was able to write about our experiences yesterday and have her proofread it. Contrary to popular belief, I am not crazy enough to put pictures of my pregnant wife in the hospital on the internet for everyone to see without her consent. That's not to say I haven't taken any pictures while she was looking away or sleeping ::evil grin::
